The Commission on Chaplaincy provides pastoral care to member ministers who exercise their call to ministry through the military chaplaincy in the Armed Forces of the United States. The Commission on Chaplaincy selects, with the approval of the President of the Convention, the ecclesiastical agent, responsible to the Convention and approved by the headquarters of the specific branch of the armed forces. The ecclesiastical agent, in military terminology, is referred to as the endorsing agent. The endorsing agent and /or the Commission on Chaplaincy is responsible for visiting chaplains on military installations to demonstrate the support and appreciation of the Convention. Further, upon terminating their position in the Armed Forces of the United States, the Commission on Chaplaincy shall extend ministry opportunities to former military chaplains within the structure of the Convention.
